In a message sent to fans, posted on their MySpace blog and copied on their official website today, North Carolina quartet The Avett Brothers announced departure from long-time label Ramseur Records for a deal with Columbia’s American Recordings.

The legendary Rick Rubin, with whom the Avett’s have already begun recording a fifth-full length album, heads-up American Recordings. Founded by Columbia in 1988 and home to the Black Crowes and Johnny Cash, among other notables, the Avett’s are excited about the major deal. “It is our distinct pleasure and honor,” they announced, “to be in such fine company as we build and bring this most current chapter of songs to fruition.”

Despite the new union, the Avett’s were clear to point out their ongoing loyalty to and relationship with Ramseur Records. “There have been and will be no hard feelings or abandon-based resentment from either party involved. The Avett and Ramseur camps remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally.” Ramseur Records, in turn, “will continue to proudly represent them as their management company and can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Even considering this “most noteworthy of present developments,” it is each show on their relentless touring schedule that brings the Avett crew closer and closer to stardom. In addition to its words for Ramseur, the group reiterated a pledge of continuing loyalty to fans that fill each and every venue. “For all of you who have gone to such great lengths to show your appreciation, we continue in our most sincere efforts to return the sentiment… the music would go nowhere without you.”

Seth Avett recently told American Songwriter that the group hopes to release its next full-length by early 2009, and what a landmark record it looks to be. Also mentioned in the conversation was an upcoming all-Avett gospel album, featuring Scott and Seth Avett, their sister and father.
