BNL, the band that brought the world “One Week” and “If I Had $1000000,” and their lead singer, Steven Page, have parted ways. Things have been rocky for the family-friendly, platinum-selling Canadian band – Page was arrested for cocaine last July and served six months probation, and band member Ed Robertson survived a plane crash in August. Their last album was 2008’s kid-oriented “Snack Time.” Next year will be their 20th anniversary.
“By mutual agreement, Steven Page will be parting company with the remaining members of Barenaked Ladies,” the band wrote on its website Tuesday. “Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson, and Tyler Stewart will continue recording and touring together as Barenaked Ladies. Steven Page will pursue solo projects including theatrical opportunities while the band enters the studio in April 2009, and hits the road in the fall.”
“These guys are my brothers,” Page said in the statement. “We’ve grown up together over the past twenty years. I love them and wish them all the best in the future.”
I just can’t imagine BNL without him. I wish Page all the best and hope he manages to break his addiction. BNL was by far one of the best acts I had seen in concert ever.
