Bruce Springsteen’s River Documentary to Premiere on HBO

HBO will premiere The Ties That Bind, the documentary chronicling the recording of Bruce Springsteen’s 1980 album The River, on Nov. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The documentary, which will be physically released on Dec. 4 as a part of the River box set, features an in-depth interview with Springsteen on The River‘s writing and recording process, acoustic performances of songs including “Two Hearts” and “Independence Day,” rare concert and rehearsal footage and more than 100 unearthed photographs from the era.

The 60-minute documentary is directed by Thom Zimny with Springsteen, Jon Landau and Barbara Carr serving as executive producers. It will air numerous times throughout the remainder of the year and will be available on HBO’s streaming platforms HBO GO and HBO NOW.
