Carrie Underwood Turns Heads, Makes History At Country Music Awards

Carrie Underwood may have won American Idol four years ago, but she’s still America’s sweetheart. The small-town girl from Muskogee, Oklahoma was named entertainer of the year on Sunday at the 44th Academy of Country Music Awards, wrestling the title away from Kenny Chesney, who’s won the honor for the past four years in a row. Underwood became only the seventh woman in the Awards’ 39 year history to clinch the honor, which has also gone to Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire and Barbara Mandell. “I feel like I just won American Idol all over again,” said an overjoyed Underwood.
