Songwriting legend Leonard Cohen returned to the stage earlier this week, kicking off his first tour in 15 years. Cohen played a two-and-a-half hour set at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax, Nova Scotia, showing any naysayers that his age is certainly not slowing him down. His fans haven’t slowed down either. The Halifax show sold out, as have many of the dates of his upcoming world tour.

Cohen, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past March, seemed just as excited about his tour as his fans were. “We haven’t been on the road for a while, but this is a wonderful way to begin,” he told the packed house in Halifax. The 20-song set list for Halifax was varied enough to keep veteran fans happy, but also included such Cohen staples as “Suzanne,” “Hallelujah,” and “First We Take Manhattan.” England’s famous festivals, Glastonbury and the Big Chill. Though there are yet to be any announced American dates, Cohen’s website hints that “the tour may continue later.” So American fans fear not, Cohen may “take Manhattan” soon enough.
