DE NOVO DAHL > Make Every Move, Make Every Sound

When listening to Nashville pop band De Novo Dahl’s Move Every Muscle, Make Every Sound I feel like a movie critic who likes Die Hard, but doesn’t tell his friends for obvious reasons. The fact is that DND make the kind of fun, groovy, ‘70s-influenced pop music that will have you dancing in no time. Label: Road Runner

It’s hard to dislike the horn section and retro r&b undertone of “Shakedown,” the Ziggy Stardust-era Bowie inspired glam of “Means to an End,” the classic pop of “Shout,” or the girl/boy harmonies and swirling synthesizer on “Make Some Sense.” Although Move Every Muscle, Make Every Sound is a party record and is distinctly modern in its production using layers of diverse guitar sounds, horns, vocal harmonies, turntables and electro-noise. DND are fun, funky, and exude an undeniable sense of humor.
