Move over, Middle Brother. There’s a new supergroup in town. Meet Diamond Rugs, a new band featuring John McCauley (Deer Tick, Middle Brother), Robbie Crowell (Deer Tick), Ian Saint Pé (The Black Lips), Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), Hardy Morris (Dead Confederate) and Bryan Dufresne (Six Finger Satellite).

Watch the video for the band’s “Christmas In A Chinese Restaurant,” in which McCauley makes mischief with a magic marker, and stream and download the song below.

“From what I remember, that was a song that John had played around with in the studio in earlier sessions, but he had never written a second verse. Adam kept harping on him to finish it and one of the nights he came in and said he had a second verse,” Morris tells Rollingstone.com. “Robbie played it on piano and when John got to the ‘moo goo gai pan’ lyric we realized it was the greatest 2nd verse to a Christmas song ever. It was very late and very funny.”
