In a new, 10-part documentary series, Ernie Ball (leading manufacturer of guitar strings and accessories) chronicles the pitfalls and mountain tops of acclaimed singer-songwriter Jake Smith as he tackles the writing and recording process of his newest album Love and the Death of Damnation. Working under the moniker of The White Buffalo, Smith takes the cameras behind-the-scenes and offers an unfiltered look into the life of a working musician.

The series, dubbed Capturing The White Buffalo: The Recording of an American Songwriter, features exclusive interviews and insights into the creative process. And not only does this series show the inner workings of The White Buffalo as talented American singer-songwriter – it reveals the down-to-earth man behind the creativity.

“At Ernie Ball we feel a responsibility to document artist journeys, because musicians are the lifeblood of our business, and without them, nothing would remain to inspire the next generation of musicians,” says Dustin Hinz, executive vice president of marketing and brand at Ernie Ball. “The Ernie Ball family is a collective of artists the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Paul McCartney, Metallica, Muse and The White Buffalo. These artists are as important to our legacy as the products we make, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to tell Jake’s story.”

The series debuts a new episode every Friday until the album’s release in August. Check out the fourth episode below.
