Eurovision Song Contest Has “Fairytale” Ending For Norway

Every European nation shares the same secret desire — to win the Eurovision Song Contest.

This year marked the 54th edition of the internationally televised event, which was won by 23-year-old Alexander Ryback of Nessoden, Norway. His song “Fairytale,” garnered 387 points, the highest score ever recorded for the contest.

Results were decided by TV viewers and expert juries from the 42 participating countries. The show is watched by 100 million people a year. Past winners include ABBA, who’s career soared in 1974 after they won with their song “Waterloo,” and Celine Dion, who won in 1988.
