After treading on turf that most indie artists consider foreign territory, Leslie Feist has made a name for herself while the world counts to “1234.” It’s no surprise Feist is in need of a musical vacation since few American’s can think of an iPod commercial as catchy.
She told Canadian press, “[My career] has become kind of large and it really began for me very, very small,” she said, “like me alone in my bedroom with my four-track and a pair of headphones.
“I just need to go back there for a while to get my bearings again and then know what to do next. I just need to let it rest for a minute.”
Feist fans will be counting the seconds of her rest in anticipation for her next move. When asked about her future with band Broken Social Scene, Feist described her contributions to the band to be a thing of the past. “It’s not really as interesting for me as it once was,” she said. “[It] would be like a reunion to be able to hang out with everyone – but I can do that around a kitchen table too.”
Head north of the border to catch her last scheduled performance in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, at the Confederates Centre of The Arts on November 10.
