Robin Pecknold, lead singer of Seattle buzz band the Fleet Foxes, has launched his own solo project under the moniker White Antelope. Pecknold posted two new songs to his side project’s MySpace page. One, “Guitar Duet,” is exactly what it sounds like. The other, a cover of “False Knight On the Road,” (made popular by British folkies Steeleye Span) is a gorgeous acoustic ballad that sinks in on first listen.

Sub Pop, the Foxes’ record label, says that Pecknold will post more cover songs on the site in the near future.

Pecknold grew up worshipping 60’s harmony-heavy groups like Crosby, Stills and Nash, the Beach Boys, and Simon and Garfunkel. The Fleet Foxes debut album, Fleet Foxes, was one of the most critically acclaimed albums of 2008.
