With the excitement of schedules and lineups dropping left and right for music festivals like Bonnaroo and Sasquatch, it’s easy for some of the smaller festivals to sneak past unnoticed.
But with a lineup that features the likes of Wilco, John Prine, and Cat Power, we’re thankful to have our tickets to Nelsonville Music Festival, which kicks off this weekend.
Set in the hills of Southeast Ohio, in the past Nelsonville Fest has featured everyone from The Flaming Lips and Willie Nelson to The Avett Brothers and Andrew Bird.
Bird liked it so much that the singer/songwriter announced it was “a hell of a lot better than Coachella,” from stage in 2012.
And while Nelsonville Fest might not have the sheer number of popular acts a festival like Coachella would, it does offer fans a more intimate time with the performers.
Some of the other bands rounding out this year’s lineup include Gogol Bordello, Mavis Staples, Sharon Van Etten, Calexico, and more.
Check back next week for our review of the festival.
