The 13th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMA) winners were announced today by Music Resource Group.
The awards honor work released by independent labels or self-released by artists. The judging panel included established artists,writers and music industry executives; including Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Judy Collins, Jim Lauderdale, Anthony DeCurtis of Rolling Stone, Erika Nichols of the Bluebird Cafe, and Evan Schlansky of American Songwriter.
Awards were given by genre for best album, song, EP, Music Production, Video, and Design.
Among the winners were:
Acoustic (song) – Lu Flur, “Future Tides”
Adult Contemporary- Vienna Teng, Aims
Alt. Country- Robert Moses and the Harmony Crusaders, Self-Developing Country
Americana – Willie Sugarcapps, Willie Sugarcapps
Bluegrass – The Bankesters, Love Has Wheels
Blues – Scarecrow, Devil & Crossroads
Country – Natalie Howard, Under {Love’s} Umbrella
Folk/Singer-Songwriter – Valerie June, Pushin’ Against a Stone
Rock / Hard Rock – Midnight Spin, Don’t Let Me Sleep
