Iron & Wine‘s Sam Beam is giving fans an early listen to the band’s much buzzed about “archival release,” a set of demos, rough-cuts and unreleased tracks dating back to 2002, around the time of his debut album, The Creek Drank the Cradle.

“Over the years some of [the songs] have gotten out on the Internet and people have showed interest,” Beam told Billboard. “And putting out another record like that now, it seems like there’s been enough time so that it sounds significantly different than what I’ve been doing these past few years. It feels more like a time capsule or a diary entry. The distance makes it more fun.”
