Songs are like living things, constantly growing and evolving along with their writers. For Jason Eady, that evolution sometimes serves as inspiration. The Texas-based singer-songwriter dug back into his catalog when putting together his forthcoming self-titled album, re-working a 2007 tune called “Waiting to Shine” and recording the new version for Jason Eady.

“I recorded this song on my 2007 album Wild Eyed Serenade, and this is the first time that I’ve ever re-recorded a song from a previous album,” Eady says. “The feel of the song has changed so much since that time and I still play it almost every night. I wanted to give the song a new life with what it has evolved into.”

Jason Eady is out April 21. Watch Eady perform and his band “Waiting to Shine” below.
