Don’t go kicking television just yet. Mavis Staples and producer/special guest Jeff Tweedy will perform on David Letterman tonight, and tomorrow, they’ll brave a guest spot on The Colbert Report. The duo are representing Staples’ excellent You Are Not Alone, which earned the soul music legend the highest Billboard chart debut of her career.
In related news, WIlco multi-instrumental wizard Pat Sansone tells Pop & Hiss that the band will begin working on their 8th studio album this month. Will it be called Wilco (The Followup?) Time will tell…. In the meantime, check out “Back Of My Mind,” the new single from The Autumn Defense, featuring Sansone and Wilco’s longtime bassist John Stiratt, here. The band’s album, Once Around, hits stores November 2.
