My Morning Jacket’s Jim James’ stage fall last week in Iowa has forced the group to cancel their planned European tour. James is still recovering from injuries he sustained after tumbling off of a subwoofer a half hour into their performance at the University of Iowa’s Recreational Building in Iowa City. The incident immediately forced the group to postpone the Iowa city show, as well as two shows in Chicago at the end of the week, but as of today, hopes for a full recovery by October 29, when the European tour was supposed to kick off in Dublin, remain high. Unfortunately, however, MMJ has just announced that tour hope was to merely postpone the tour, but as our scheduling does not allow that to happen in the immediate future, we feel it is best to cancel this tour in hopes of rescheduling at some point.

Luckily for fans on this side of the Atlantic, My Morning Jacket will be back by the end of the year. The group still plans to play a pair of shows in Chicago December 27 and 28, and have not backed out of their highly-anticipated New Year’s Eve gig in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
