As Morgan Wallen faced a judge for his chair-throwing incident, the music industry prepared to celebrate another year of great music at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. Although Wallen was sentenced to seven days in a DUI education center and two years probation, the singer also won big at the BBMAs. The singer walked away with Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist, Top Male Artist, and Top Collaboration. While expanding his career in country music, the singer once offered a simplistic cover of Jason Aldean’s 2012 song “Water Tower—safe to say, it’s a certified tearjerker.

Back in 2020, Wallen found himself touring the country alongside Aldean on his We Back Tour. He also toured with the singer once again in 2022 on the Rock and Roll Cowboy Tour. Having spent a great deal of time with Aldean, Wallen decided to perform one of his favorite songs from the singer.
With no band or elaborate setup, Wallen simply used the lyrics and his voice to take fans on a journey back home. And fans couldn’t get enough as they commented, “Man he sings the s**t out of this track. Makes me miss home.” Another person added, “I remember coming home from Afghanistan. It was a weekday so everybody was working and I was riding dirt roads and just taking everything that had happened in. I remember this song coming on the radio and call me a sissy if you need to but it got me emotional hearing that and finally being home and safe.”
Morgan Wallen Thanks Fans For Their Continued Support
As for the BBMAs, Wallen thanked his fans for their continued support in a pre-recorded message. He said, “I just wanted to say thank you guys for everyone who’s supported me along my journey and, as always, most importantly, thank you to my fans. You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I want to make.”
Having explored different sounds in country music, Wallen noted how his fans always gave him a chance. “Whether it’s a song that sounds similar to something I’ve put out in the past or whether it’s something that is completely different, you guys have always just given, at least given it a chance, and that’s all I can ask for, and I just want to say thank you guys for being that way with my music.”
While Wallen looked to put his legal troubles behind him, he told fans, “I hope I can come back next year and accept some more, but for now, I really appreciate it. God bless you.”
