Last month, Morrissey wrote the afterward for New York Dolls: Photographs, a book featuring Bob Gruen original photos, and now it appears that the former Smiths singer will be writing more in the near future. More specifically, he will be penning his own autobiography. Speaking to Janice Long on BBC Radio 2, Morrissey announced that he plans to write an autobiography that spans his entire musical career in order to “set the record straight.”

In questioning his reason for the project, Long asked the singer if the book was related to a 2007 interview with New Musical Express, which painted Morrissey as a racist based on his views on immigration. While not giving a direct answer, Morrissey said “With every printed interview there’s lots of misquotes and lots of them are really silly and really extreme and you have to live with them for the rest of your life. So much crap is written about me, and it’s quite hard to live with sometimes because it all gets burned down in history and becomes part of your legacy.”

The singer did not announce how much he has written so far or even when fans can expect to see the book in print. In related news, however, his new album, Year of Refusal drops in February, and in the same interview, Morrissey called the forthcoming album “fantastically strong.”
