Neil Young took to his web site to announce “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?,” a new song from his upcoming album Storytone. The track is a takedown of fossil fuel dependence and a call to action for citizens to protect Earth’s ecosystems. He debuted “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?” at Crazy Horse performances, including this year’s Farm Aid, earlier this summer.

Accompanying the song, Young wrote the following on his web site: “I’m giving you permission to please use this music in videos, clips and communications, or in any way you see fit during this critical time. I hope this music can assist you in the important work we do to reach out for understanding and action in the world.”

Several versions of the song are available on Young’s site, including live, orchestral and solo acoustic. For more information, Young directs visitors to the “NY Times” (The Neil Young Times), where he’s posted lyrics and short blurbs on the track’s background.

Storytone tentatively comes out this November, though an official release date hasn’t been set.
