Stephony Smith wrote “It’s Your Love,” and McGraw released it as the lead single from his fourth studio album, Everywhere. The track topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for six consecutive weeks. The last song to spend that much time at the top of the country chart was Waylon Jennings’ 1977 hit “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love).”

“It’s Your Love” was also the only duet from a married couple to top the Hot Country Songs chart for more than two decades. Kane and Katelyn Brown were the second couple to earn that distinction with their duet “Thank God” in 2023.

The song became more than a country hit. “It’s Your Love” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving both Hill and McGraw a crossover hit. At the ACM Awards, it took home Single, Song, Video, and Vocal Event of the Year. Additionally, it brought them the trophy for Vocal Event of the Year at the CMA Awards and a pair of Grammy nominations.

Tim McGraw Reflects on How Recording with Faith Hill Changed Their Lives

In a 2023 interview with Yahoo, Tim McGraw reflected on “It’s Your Love” and how it changed his and Faith Hill’s lives.

“It was the very first song that Faith and I ever did together. It was very early in our relationship, and it was just something that brought us together in a way that nothing else could,” McGraw said of the song. “I remember shooting the video here in LA with Faith being pregnant with Gracie. That was such a special time,” he added.

“I always look back on that as something that not only changed my musical world but changed my life,” he said of how he sees the song in the present.
