Iconic shoe company Converse recently recruited N.E.R.D. star Pharrell Williams, Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas and indie darling Santogold to star in their latest advertising campaign, “Three Artists, One Song.” The track recorded by the trio could be streamed online in June, but the video just hit the net this week.

“My Drive Thru” combines the strengths of the unlikely trio; Pharrell’s signature Neptunes’ beats and a few well-placed “ohs”, Santogold’s genre-bending vocals and Casablancas’ Strokes-style singing all blend well into a track that could easily transcend the sneaker commercial into summer radio hit. The black-and-white video features cartoon-esque depictions of the artists dancing with plenty of close-ups of their beloved Chuck Taylors.

Santogold, who has seen a recent explosion in popularity, sees the project as positive for her career and rejects the notion that she has “sold out.” “It’s like one of the main ways to get our music heard now and so it’s stupid for artists to shy away from that,” she said. She goes on to describe the track, in which the three artists were able to “do their own separate thing… with personalities separate.”

Converse isn’t going to ease up on the campaign, which celebrates the company’s 100th anniversary with “My Drive Thru.” Other artists lined up to salute their favorite shoes include Fiery Furnaces, Does it Offend You, Yeah? and Care Bears on Fire. The “My Drive Thru” track is a free download and the video can be found here:
