PJ Harvey Announces New Album

Despite lining up a remarkable solo career in her own right, PJ Harvey has always been one for collaborations. Whether it be lending her rusty vocals to Nick Cave, Tricky or Sparklehorse, or going the extra mile and writing a handful of songs for Marianne Faithfull, Harvey rarely lets her muse sleep.

For her latest side project, she has paired up with John Parish once again for A Woman A Man Walked By slated for release on March 30th of next year on Island Records. The album is a follow-up to their 1996 project Dance Hall at Louse Point, and a continuation of a long line of musical collusions with the English producer.

If Walked By shares any similarities with its predecessor, it’s likely to be another break in form from Harvey’s visceral Patti Smith persona with a far more brooding, textural tone. Given that it has been mixed by sought-after producer Flood (a.k.a. Mark Ellis), same as Louse Point as well as Harvery’s ’95 album To Bring You My Love, it shouldn’t be too far a stretch to expect comparable digs. Besides those sketchy details, the duo have kept tight-lipped on the album, but however it plays, Polly Jean never fails to slough off critical opinion and blaze her own trail.
