“Drive” by Jason Boland and the Stragglers 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Red Dirt country legends will release their new album The Last Kings of Babylon later this year. They shared the second single, “Drive” earlier this week. Those who are looking for a killer new country song to add to their road trip playlist will find it here. At the same time, it will be a treat for longtime fans of the band.
“Believer” by Pug Johnson 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Pug Johnson’s forthcoming album El Cabron is already shaping up to be one of the best of the year. Songs like the new single “Believer” are why country fans should be keeping a close eye on this Texas native.
Lyrically, “Believer” tells the true story of the best first date that Johnson ever had and the love and love and marriage that followed. It’s also the classic story of a fast-living young man finding the love of a good woman and settling down. So, those who can relate will feel this one in their bones. Sonically, it’s a sweet, swampy, horn-heavy track that’s sure to set the mood.
“Dirt Roads of Red” by JD Clayton 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Fort Smith, Arkansas-based troubadour JD Clayton announced his sophomore album Blue Sky Sundays today with this track. The track asking the Man Upstairs to change Heaven’s streets of gold to something a little more familiar puts Clayton’s songwriting and vocals on full display and wonderfully showcases his killer road band.
“Casseroles” by Hailey Whitters 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
It has been a couple of years since Hailey Whitters released new music. She made her comeback today with “Casseroles.” If you’re looking for a new country song to make you cry, you’ve found it.
Written as a tribute to her late brother, Whitters captured the grief and loneliness of losing a loved one and turned it into a beautiful if heartbreaking song.
“Easy Does It” by Emily Ann Roberts 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Knoxville, Tennessee-based country singer Emily Ann Roberts returned with her new song “Easy Does It” today. This sweet tune sees Roberts reflecting on a lifetime of toxic relationships and the one that showed her a new way of doing things. Much like “Believer,” this is an incredibly touching track for those who can relate.
“Ain’t a Damn Thing Changed” by Johnny Marfa and the Lights 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Johnny Marfa and the Lights released their sophomore album Take Me Back to Texas today and it’s packed with top-tier country songs. The band’s fiddle-heavy traditional instrumentation and Marfa’s velvety voice make the 11-track offering go down easy like smooth bourbon.
The heartbreak anthem “Ain’t a Damn Thing Changed” is a standout among killer tracks. It perfectly captures the long days that seem to blur together after suffering a broken heart.
