Old 97’s frontman Rhett Miller will release his fourth solo album, Rhett Miller, on Shout Factory! June 9th, Billboard.com reports.

The 12 song album was produced by Salim Nourallah, who also produced the Old 97’s latest record, and features multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jon Brion on guitar and bass.

Lyrically, Miller tells the Website, “it’s kind of a dark record. In my mind I was in a pretty dark place the last year or two — just life, you know how it is. I decided I’m not gonna say any more about it than that.” He also adds, “my secret has always been to take those kind of difficult sentiments and couch them in a bouncy tune.”

Miller assures fans that he isn’t leaving his band of alt-country stalwarts — he’ll tour with the Old 97’s this summer, where he’ll work his solo material into the set.
