The 90s Classic Rock Supergroup We’d Want To See (If We Could)

It’s a hard task to try and pick your favorite artists from the 1990s. There were just so many amazing performers, from alt-rock to grunge to rap to electronic to jam bands and much more. But nevertheless, we wanted to try and highlight three that especially intrigued us. Not only that, but we wanted to pluck three performers we thought could work well together under the right circumstances.

If you were to magically create a supergroup from rockers in the 90s, who would you pick? Because here below, we chose our trio of favorites. Indeed, these are three classic rock artists from the 90s we’d want to see collaborate together if we could.

Co-Lead Singer: Lenny Kravitz

Was anyone cooler in the 1990s than Lenny Kravtiz? The guitar playing, songwriting frontman was as visually compelling as he was musically compelling in the decade. Shoot, he’s still doing it today in his 60s! Known for songs like “Fly Away” and “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over”, Kravitz could front any band in rock history thanks to his stage presence, rock prowess and magnetic aura. So, he makes the perfect co-lead vocalist for our 90s supergroup here!

Co-Lead Singer: Fiona Apple

We wanted to offset some of Kravitz’ charm and force with a subversive, alluring performer. So, who better to pick than Fiona Apple? Known for her breakout hit “Criminal”, Apple had the world in the palm of her hand during the decade. Imagine her skulking around the stage as Kravitz belted out lyrics in his microphone. Then Apple could come in with the thunder to his lightning. The ice to his fire. It’s a one-two combination few might see coming but that everyone would surely flock to.

Backing Band: Dave Matthews Band

With such interesting lead vocalists, who would we want to back the artists? Well, how about the versatile, brilliant Dave Matthews Band? Of course, Matthews himself could hop on the mic in a pinch, or he could stand back and play guitar as others in his group went wild on bass, drums, violin and sax. Songs could extend for dozens of minutes while Lenny and Fiona transcended space and time with their performances. We’re getting chills just thinking about it all…
