Everybody talks about Dolly Parton’s famous debut of “I Will Always Love You” and the first time she performed at the Grand Ole Opry at just 13 years old. 1. “Puppy Love”

Dolly Parton’s many career milestones started with the debut of her very first single, “Puppy Love”, in 1957. Parton wrote the tune with her uncle when she was only 11 years old. The song was released with the B-side “Girl Left Alone” via Goldband Records in 1959.

While “Puppy Love” didn’t earn Parton any substantial commercial or charting success, it marked the beginning of what would become a legendary music career.

2. “Something Fishy”

The release of “Something Fishy” in 1967 marked an upward trajectory for Dolly Parton. She managed to hit the Billboard country charts with the song, which hit no. 17, and the song “Dumb Blonde”, which hit no. 24. Her first album Hello, I’m Dolly was released that year as well.

3. “Jolene”

With 12 records already under her belt by 1974, the release of Jolene and its iconic title track changed everything for Parton. “Jolene” is by far Parton’s most well-known hit song, and it catapulted to no. 1 on the country charts when it was first released.

“Jolene” also hit no. 60 on the Hot 100 chart as well. From then on, Parton pummeled the charts with hit after hit, from “I Will Always Love You” to “The Bargain Store” and more.

4. The Film ‘9 To 5’

Dolly Parton’s career milestones don’t solely involve music. Parton made her film debut in 1980 with the comedy movie that famously birthed her hit song “9 To 5”. She contributed the song to the film’s soundtrack, and she absolutely nailed her role in the movie alongside Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

Parton got a ton of award nominations for her role after the film was released. And even though she didn’t win any of those awards, she did nab two Grammy awards for the song itself.

5. Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction

Dolly Parton dominated country music for decades, then went on to dominate rock music at the age of 76. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022, then released her rock album Rockstar in 2023. Who knows what she’ll do next? We can’t wait to find out!
