Billie Eilish‘s rise to fame has been swift and sweeping. That being said, people might have thought fame got the better of her early in her career. However, that is not the case whatsoever, and that fact is thanks to Eilish’s receptiveness, maturity, and the invaluable piece of wisdom she learned at the MET Gala.

In the grander scheme of the world’s timeline, Eilish is a youngster. At only 23 years old, Eilish has lived multiple lives, as she has touched nearly every corner of the daunting entertainment industry and done so incredibly well for herself. But for Eilish, none of it would have been possible if it wasn’t for an observation she made at one of the entertainment industry’s biggest nights.
The Profound Piece of Wisdom Billie Eilish Found on the Red Carpet
Following her appearance at the MET Gala in 2021, Eilish appeared on The Howard Stern Show and relayed an important moment the event gifted her. For Eilish, the moment did not serve as a career rite of passage. Rather, it was humbling and eye-opening and provided her the mental fortitude to carry on in this cutthroat business.
“The main thing that night made me think or feel was how famous people are just like literally nobodies, I mean just nobodies, just randos,” Eilish told Stern. “These people are just somebody that’s in class with you. Everybody is just like embarrassed and insecure about what they’re doing and saying.”
Given Billie Eilish’s comments, it seems she figured out, in its most essential form, that famous people are just people. Other than their flashy outfits, documented lifestyles, and public appeal, they are just individuals who live every day like everybody else: Uneventfully and normally.
Regarding her observation, Eilish also had more to say: “You know what’s nice about the other people that are in the same kind of world that you’re in is that they’re not getting their phone out and shoving it in your face because they don’t want that themselves.”
When Eilish went to the MET, she was approximately 21 years old. With that in mind, it seems the Grammy and Oscar-winning musician has carried this piece of wisdom along with her throughout her career. Whether you like her music or not, there is one thing about Billie Eilish that is undeniable: She is unapologetically herself. And it seems this personal revelation has something to do with her authentic and genuine disposition.
