Seems even thieves themselves are victims of robbery from time to time. Such is the case with Erick Jordan and company of The Rosewood’s Thieves and the untimely brevity of their latest EP. While it’s a shame they don’t get to play for longer on Lonesome’s six-track tease, there’s enough lyrical sustenance to more than satiate the listener’s palate.

While it’s a shame they don’t get to play for longer on Lonesome‘s six-track tease, there’s enough lyrical sustenance to more than satiate the listener’s palate. A kind of folk/retro-pop fusion, Lonesome is vulnerable without being passive. On “A Bullet Painted Red,” Jordan muses how “I told you I loved you/and you kissed my lips like a liar”-but he does so in such a sing-song, tambourine-laden context that there’s only room to appreciate his honesty, not pity it.
