Five-time Grammy winners Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have returned to the studio to record the follow-up to 2007’s Raising Sand. The bluegrass queen and the rock legend have again teamed with roots producer T Bone Burnett.
The one thing we certainly can’t do is try and repeat [Raising Sand],” Burnett told Rolling Stone. “That was a moment in time and a beautiful moment, so to try and do that sort of thing again would detract from that.” He adds, “Hopefully we have at least two more records in us.”
Rounder Records’ Ken Irwin also provided an update: “Alison and Robert have been in the studio for about two weeks and although we haven’t heard any of the music, we’ve been hearing good things from the musicians,” he wrote in an e-mail to Country Standard Time.
In the meantime, saddened classic rock fans continue to sigh, “O Zeppelin, where art thou?” Plant has indicated that he is more interested in continuing with Krauss than revisiting old glories with his former bandmates, Led Zeppelin.
