The White Stripes are Coming to a DVD Player Near You

Pretty exciting, eh?

Remember 2007, when the intrepid White Stripes performed in a fishing boat, a youth center, and a bowling alley, while touring the remote Canadian wilderness? Jack White recently spoke with the CBC, Canada’s answer to the BBC, revealing that a DVD from their Canadian trek is in the works. Fans can expect some 40 songs interspersed throughout the documentary, which, like the upcoming White Stripes record, has yet to be pegged with a release date.

“When we started, we just didn’t know what we were doing, so we just [said]: ‘Film everything, see what happens,'” said White. “As we went around and played a show in every province or territory, we realized that not even a Canadian band had ever done that. Which is wild, I can’t even believe that. How did we become the first, you know? It’s already the 21st century!”

While you’re waiting, put this in your Netflix que: Under Blackpool Lights, which captures a down and dirty, fast and gritty performance from the Stripe’s 2004 UK tour.

White’s record label is called Third Man, now more appropriate than ever since he’s in three bands. His latest side project, the Dead Weather, are currently touring the States. They’ll play The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien on June 18. On June 22, they’ll play Nigel Godrich’s From The Basement, which will stream live here. The Dead Weather’s debut album, Horehound, drops July 14.
