The next new “Radiohead” songs we hear may have a higher purpose.

Thom Yorke is among the artists writing songs for When The Dragon Swallowed the Sun, a documentary about the Free Tibet movement. Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice and composer Philip Glass also contribute songs to the documentary, which was directed by Dirk Simon, and has been seven years in the making.

The release date for the film has not been confirmed, but the film will feature three new Yorke songs. Yorke first went solo in 2006, with the critically-acclaimed Eraser.

Radiohead appeared at the 1997 and 1998 Tibetan Freedom concerts in New York City and Washington D.C., which were organized by the Beastie Boys and the Milarepa Fund.

Stay tuned to the film’s website for more details.
