South By Southwest: it’s not all about obscure indie artists with cool names who sound like other obscure indie artists with equally cool names. This year, the Austin, Texas festival welcomes Metallica, Jane’s Addiction, Kanye West and Tori Amos into its fold.

Amos, who split last year with her label Epic Records, came to Austin to play old favorites and debut new tunes from her upcoming album, Abnormally Attracted to Sin. Due May 19th, it finds the minister’s daughter once again wrestling with religion over 17 self-described “vignettes.”

On Thurdsay night at Zona Rona,  Amos launched her performance (her first since 2007) with the new track “Lady in Blue,” after being introduced to the stage by blogger Perez Hilton. She also previewed “Curtain Call” and “Mary Jane,” a song about a teenage boy’s desire to get stoned. Her 45-minute set also included “Crucify,” “Silent All These Years,” and “Take to the Sky.”

Abnormally Attracted to Sin will be released by Republic Records. The title comes from a line from the musical Guys and Dolls.
