On January 28, Legacy Recordings will issue Uncle Tupelo’s No Depression: Legacy Edition, a two disc set that collects the legendary alt-country band’s debut album, along with freshly unearthed demos and live cuts.  Uncle Tupelo helped define the alt-country movement and was the launching pad for songwriters Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and Jay Farrar (Son Volt).

No Depression: Legacy Edition finds the original album, which was always rather tinny sounding on CD, remastered by engineer Vic Anesini, and features new liner notes by original band booster Richard Byrne of St. Louis’ alt-weekly The Riverfront Times. The second disc features the band’s original 1989 eight-song demo, Not Forever, Just For Now, which has never been released on CD.

On November 29, Legacy will kick things off with the release exclusive 7″ vinyl single of Uncle Tupelo’s  cover of The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog” for Record Store Day’s Back to Black Friday. The B Side features the band’s take on Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Commotion.”
