Watch: Bernie Taupin On Writing Elton John’s “The New Fever Waltz”

Earlier this week Elton John released The Diving Board, a T Bone Burnett-produced record that proves Captain Fantastic “is on the right musical path once again,” according to our review.

John’s longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin penned the lyrics for the album. In a rare video interview, Taupin discusses the writing of “The New Fever Waltz,” a song he wrote about World War I and the ravages of trench warfare. “For the most part, I just like to throw a curveball into anything I write,” he says.
