Although gaining fame as the second half of Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon has produced a promising solo career that continues today. Again, it may be hard to look past hits like “The Sound of Silence” and “The Boxer”, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member recorded fifteen solo albums throughout his career in the spotlight. And even with the singer’s net worth sitting around $200 million, he recently proved that for an easy $20, he will sing his classic “Kodachrome.”

Back in 1973, Simon released his third studio album with There Goes Rhymin’ Simon. Among the songs featured on the album was “Kodachrome.” Named after the reversal film produced by Kodak, the song climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Among some of Simon’s most popular songs, he found himself in a unique situation when a fan wanted him to play it at his show at the Los Angeles Walt Disney Concert Hall on Wednesday.
According to a person who attended the performance, “Some dude yelled “Play Kodachrome!” (He hasn’t played it since 2019) And Paul Simon says I don’t do requests…. Unless you got $20 bucks (obviously being a silly goose) and then the dude whipped out a 20 and Paul went ahead, took the 20 and kept his Promsie. Can’t believe I saw this.”
Paul Simon Continues To Perform Amid Health Issues
Before following through with the request, Simon made sure the $20 was real. After putting it in his pocket, the singer took his seat and started to play. Fans loved the moment, writing, “Holy s**t. That’s f***ing fantastic.” Another person added, “Paul Simon ‘$20 bucks is $20 bucks’ shirt when?”
Fans of Simon have been somewhat eager for the singer to return to the stage since his 2018 Homeward Bound tour. Although promoted as a farewell tour, in April, he kicked off the A Quiet Celebration tour.
Over the last few years, Simon dealt with several health issues. In 2023, he revealed being unable to perform after losing a majority of his hearing in one ear. And just last month, he canceled a string of performances after suffering from “intense back pain.” But even with his health hindering him, Simon still produced an unforgettable night that landed him an extra $20.
