Weezer’s Meat & Three

Weezer seems to be in a rush to get a meat & three combo these days. With “Pork and Beans” debuting at 80 on Billboard Hot 100, and their newest “Red album” currently sitting high at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, you wouldn’t think the band would need to spice things up any more. But Weezer is back at it, throwing some lemon pepper zest on top of their red hot album by putting three different spins on the “Pork and Beans” single.

These three singles will each have varying B-sides. But while the B-sides might sport those quirky Cuomo vocals, the songs themselves are written by other hands. Weezer is covering REM’s “Oddfellows Local 151,” The Psychodelic Furs’ “Love My Way” and Tubeway Army’s “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” on their single releases. However, these lovableTroublemakers are making it difficult for the U.S. to chow down on these B-sides. Unfortunately, they are only available to the U.K.- though Ebay will probably make them available for about twice as much as they go for overseas, ugh. Also, even if you do manage to grab the “Love My Way” and “Oddfellows” singles, you’ll need something to spin vinyl on.

So, maybe the U.S. won’t get in on the entire “Pork and Beans” diet, but at least we get to overindulge on the “Red album.”
