Weezer Pepper Pinkerton Reissue With Bonus Tracks

Videos by American Songwriter

Once thought of as a disappointment, the 1996 Weezer album Pinkerton has come to be considered one of the most influential and important albums in recent rock history. Rolling Stone felt compelled to re-review Pinkerton in 2004, giving the album a five star rating, and Spin named it one of the 100 best albums from 1985-2005.

On November 2, DGC/Ume will release a two disc Pinkerton Deluxe Edition. The original Weezer-produced album will be remastered and also include 25 bonus tracks, plus every official B-side and 16 previously unreleased recordings. Included in the bonus tracks are live cuts from 1996 and ’97, taken from the colossal Reading Festival in the U.K., various radio station sessions in Salt Lake City and Philadelphia, and a lunchtime performance won in a contest by high school students of Shorecrest High in Washington.

Included in the deluxe edition will be numerous photos, and an essay written by the band’s webmaster Karl Koch.

Weezer have also announced “The Memories Tour” for this Fall, in which they’ll perform two separate nights in each city on the tour. The first night will see the band play The Blue Album in it’s entirety, plus a greatest hits set. The second night will feature a greatest hits set and a full performance of Pinkerton.
