I wish that I could love you
You’re the mother of my son
And you’re the one with the memories
Of all the things we’ve done
I wish that I could love you
It would make everything so right
But you see, I’ll be holding
Someone else tonight

CHORUS

I wish that I could love you
For all the years you stayed
For all the tears and laughter
And all the plans we made
I wish that I could love you
It would make everything so right
But you see. I’ll be holding
Someone else tonight

It’s so hard to leave you
When you don’t want me to go
But you don’t want to listen
And you don’t want to know
That I love another
What else can I say
I wish that I could love you
But I don’t feel that way.

REPEAT CHORUS

I saw you yesterday
It made me feel so sad
You had our son beside you
A tall and handsome lad
The years have gone so quickly
I wish I could make things right
But I know you’ll be holding
Someone else tonight

REPEAT CHORUS

And I’m a fool who will sleep alone
Again tonight

  1. Pretty good lyrics, plus the meter is “right-on-beat,” but the same old down-through-the-ages repetitive message that’s been
told again and again and AGAIN! These words would definitely have to “team-up” with an exceptional musical composition and then it would definitely work! All in all, I DO like it!
