American Idol has been a staple singing competition show ever since it started in 2002. That being said, some fairly large names have come out of the show and made quite a career for themselves. There have also been a few contestants whose fame and success were unfortunately limited to the show and the show alone, as their careers didn’t exactly flourish after their seasons wrapped.

Now, with that in mind, you are likely thinking of Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. Frankly, who wouldn’t? However, several other musicians went on to make a name for themselves on the charts after their stint on American Idol. And here are just three of them!
Jordin Sparks
Following Underwood and Clarkson, Jordin Sparks is probably the most successful female singer to walk away as the winner of American Idol. After winning the show in 2007 at just 17 years old, Sparks went on to have a fairly decorated and fruitful career, particularly on the Billboard Hot 100.
In total, Sparks has had five songs appear on the most famous chart in the world. To be specific, three of those songs grace the Top 10. Her highest ranking song was “No Air”, which peaked at no. 3 in 2008.
Scotty McCreery
In 2011, Scotty McCreery beat out fellow country musician Lauren Alaina and became the official winner of American Idol Season 10. However, that was not the end of McCreery’s country career, as the man has gone on to become a household name and successful record-selling artist.
In regards to his performance on the Billboard Hot 100, McCreery has put up some stellar numbers. Now, he hasn’t scored a Top 10 hit yet, but he has had 10 songs appear on the chart. Furthermore, he nearly garnered his first Top 10 hit with his song, “I Love You This Big”, which peaked at no. 11 in 2011.
Phillip Phillips
Following Scotty McCreery was the Season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips. At only 21 years old, Phillip Phillips won American Idol in 2012 and went on to have quite the career, primarily thanks to his hit song, “Home”. However, he is no one-hit wonder.
In addition to his single “Home” peaking at no. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, Phillips has also had three other singles grace the chart. Unfortunately, none of them went on to break the Top 10. However, all three of them stayed on the charts for a cumulative 39 weeks.
