Who doesn’t love a good compilation album, especially from the golden age of classic rock? Compilation albums are typically records from famous bands or musicians that feature remastered or reworked hit songs, unreleased material, live performances, and greatest hits mixes. They’re always a joy for fans to listen to. nd I happen to think the following classic rock compilation albums deserve more love nowadays. Let’s take a look at some of the best compilation releases from some of the most loved classic rock groups of the 20th century!

‘Hatful Of Hollow’ by The Smiths (1984)
This stellar compilation album from The Smiths came out in 1984. It’s one of the most loved records among fans for a reason. Diehard Smiths fans will tell you that this is the album to listen to if you want to get into The Smiths, and I’m inclined to agree with that notion.
Hatful Of Hollow is packed with versions of their hit songs that are even better than the original studio versions. You’ve got all the classics here, from “William, It Was Really Nothing” to “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now”. The Peel and Jensen sessions were really something.
‘Incesticide’ by Nirvana (1992)
This classic rock compilation album is my favorite Nirvana release, and it’s not even considered a formal “album” by many fans. This is such an unexpectedly good album. It boasts so many songs that are considered favorites among fans of the great grunge outfit.
Incesticide has “Sliver”, “Aneurysm”, “Molly’s Lips”, and all the other underrated, amazing tracks that never made it to Nirvana’s “real” albums. There are a few takes from the BBC Mark Goodier and John Peel sessions, too.
‘1’ by The Beatles (2000)
Alright, if you’re a serious Beatles fan, you haven’t forgotten about this compilation album. But I do think it deserves to be revisited, simply because of how well-executed this album is.
1 is a very special release from The Beatles that welcomed in fans, new and old, into the 21st century. This collection was put together by George Martin and the then-three remaining Beatles. The record boasts almost every single No. 1 hit song the Fab Four ever produced, fully remastered. It’s not surprising that this collection of classics sold over 30 million copies.
