Oh my goodness—that feeling when you leave work might be the most blissful moment on Earth. When you walk out of the door of your place of business and hit the sidewalk or jump in your car, that’s the stuff dreams are made of. And when that moment occurs, there is only one thing to do: Put on some classic rock songs and jam out to your freedom.

We wanted to explore three classic rock songs that seem tailor-made for just this part of your day. A trio of tracks that amplify your emotions and give you the commiseration and catharsis worthy of getting out of your job. Indeed, these are three classic rock songs that were seemingly made for when you get off work.
“Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper from ‘She’s So Unusual’ (1983)
The Brooklyn-born songwriter and performer Cyndi Lauper said it best. “When the working day is done / Oh, girls, they wanna have fun.” Of course, the same could be said for their male counterparts, as well. Really, everyone just wants to have a little fun when the working day is done. Whether that’s finding happy hour or listening to your favorite song and singing its lyrics at the top of your lungs. Lauper had a hit on her hands as soon as she penned those couple of lines. And the working world has benefited ever since.
“Working For The Weekend” by Loverboy from ‘Get Lucky’ (1981)
This song sums up the feelings of every working stiff. Each day is a trudging drudgery on its way to the blissful two days where you can be free from workday responsibilities. While some love their jobs, most do not. And they can’t help but find their minds wandering to the time when they can drink beer, watch sports, and kick back. That is, until Monday comes around. Either way, though, the Canadian-born band Loverboy hit the nail on the head with this 1981 tune from their LP, Get Lucky. And thus so many sing along, knowing full well the import of the lyrics.
“Rock And Roll All Nite” by KISS from ‘Dressed To Kill’ (1975)
When you’re sitting at your desk, punching away at the keys on your computer, this song might be running through your head. No one wants to be in that grey cubicle, tie tied tight or high heels digging into their soles. And no one wants to be waiting out the clock as the second hand seems to tick by slower and slower with each hour. Instead, what you want to be doing is rocking and rolling and partying every day! Hopefully, one day you’ll get that chance.
