3 Iconic Songs That Never Won a Grammy

1.  “I Want to Hold Your Hand” (The Beatles)

Despite its status in the rock world today, the Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand” never took home a Grammy. It was nominated for Record of the Year, but never actually received the nod. The Recording Academy has certainly paid this song its dues since then, but it’s a wonder it didn’t rise to the top of the heap in its day.

Oh, please, say to me
You’ll let me be your man
And please, say to me
You’ll let me hold your hand
You’ll let me hold your hand
I want to hold your hand

And when I touch you
I feel happy inside
It’s such a feelin’ that my love
I can’t hide
I can’t hide
I can’t hide

2. “Endless Love” (Diana Ross and Lionel Richie)

Despite it possibly seeming overly sympathetic these days, Diana Ross and Lionel Richie’s “Endless Love” earned several Grammy nominations upon its release. This collaboration between two massive artist certainly has stuck around over the years. It never actually earned Ross and Richie the trophy, but it certainly did a lot for their careers anyway.

My love, there’s only you in my life
The only thing that’s right

My first love
You’re every breath that I take
You’re every step I make

And I, I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do

3.  “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” (The Rolling Stones)

Much like the Beatles’ hit, The Rolling Stones’ “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” failed to secure a Grammy for the rock outfit, despite its popularity now. This up-tempo track is one of the Stones’ calling cards. Even those that don’t tout themselves rock fans will know the chorus to this anthem. It just goes to show, winning awards isn’t always the best indicator of success.

I can’t get no satisfaction
I can’t get no satisfaction
‘Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can’t get no, I can’t get no

When I’m drivin’ in my car
And the man comes on the radio
He’s tellin’ me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to drive my imagination
