3 of the Best Musical Guest Appearances From ‘Saturday Night Live’s 50th Season

Season 50 of Saturday Night Live is coming to an end on Saturday, May 17. The 50th anniversary season of SNL has decorated the season with one-of-a-kind skits, special guests, hosts, and musical guests. Frankly, the season has not missed when it comes to who they have featured in this special season, especially when it comes to the musical entertainment of the evening.

With the 50th Anniversary Special kicking off the season, SNL season 50 has consisted of 19 episodes thus far. In those 19 episodes, some of the musical guests have been Morgan Wallen, Coldplay, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Hozier, Charli XCX, and many, many more. So, to rehash and unpack the musical guests of SNL season 50, here are three of the best from the historic season.

Morgan Wallen

Returning to SNL on March 29, 2025, Morgan Wallen’s appearance on the show was arguably the most memorable of the whole entire season. Did he perform well? Yes. However, the memorable moment of his appearance is when he abruptly walked off stage right after Mikey Madison’s closing monologue.

After it happened, fans, publications, and critics were speculating why Morgan Wallen left so quickly. Most were negative, some were positive. Regardless, it seems Wallen just wanted to go home, and he made that pretty clear.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga made her fifth musical guest appearance on SNL on March 8, 2025. That evening, Gaga acted as both the musical guest and host of the show. As the musical guest, Gaga performed her hit singles “Abracadabra” and “Killah”.

Unlike Wallen’s appearance, Gaga’s guest appearance was made memorable simply because of the music. Furthermore, both the singles she performed had just come out not long before her appearance on the show. Thus, everyone was seemingly frothing at the mouth to hear and watch them performed by Gaga.

Timothée Chalamet

Like Lady Gaga, Timothée Chalamet also served as both the musical guest and host of SNL on January 25 of 2025. As a musical guest, Chalamet stepped back into his role as Bob Dylan from A Complete Unknown and performed the Dylan songs “Outlaw Blues”, “Three Angels”, and “Tomorrow Is A Long Time” alongside James Blake.

Likely unbeknownst to most at the time of the episode’s airing, Chalamet carried on Dylan’s SNL legacy by performing his songs, as Dylan performed only once on the show in 1979. In all, it was pretty cool to see Chalamet help bring Bob Dylan’s music to the masses on one of America’s most popular television shows.
