Supermodels are known for their facial expressions, ability to walk slyly and stalwartly down a catwalk, and their beauty in fashion magazines or shows. To put it another way, supermodels are not often known for their singing prowess. Sometimes they show up in music videos like in George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90,” but singing? No.

“Love and Tears” by Naomi Campbell from Baby Woman (1994)
In 1994, British-born supermodel Naomi Campbell, who was one of the five supermodels in Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” video, released an entire album and while it did not do well in her home country, the LP sold over 1 million copies in Japan. The record’s debut single “Love and Tears” hit No. 40 on the UK singles chart and was a Top-10 hit in Italy. It was also the sole number to garner a music video from the runway star. On the love song, Campbell sings,
By the look in your eyes
And in the silence I hear the change coming
It’s only a matter of time
It’s been a long time, since we made love together
And longer since the times when you used to say
How you loved me
Cause I want to know
I want to know how to separate
Love and tears
I want to know how to separate
Love and tears
I want to know how to separate
Love and tears
Love and tears!
“Wonderland” by Heidi Klum (Single, 2006)
In 2006, iconic German-born supermodel Heidi Klum released her debut single in her native country. Originally written for a commercial, Klum, who today is a judge on the NBC show America’s Got Talent, took to the song so much she wanted to turn it into an official single, so she released it and the proceeds from the track went to a charity in her hometown of Bergisch Gladbach. The song did OK during the holiday season, hitting three charts—No. 13 in Germany, No. 21 in Austria and No. 38 in Switzerland. And on it, she sings,
Everybody’s cheering up tonight, ooh-oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-yeah
Children’s eyes reflecting candlelight, ooh-oh-oh, oh-oh
Sleigh bells in every street, the world is waiting
For Santa Claus to come
People feel that their hearts can beat as one
As one, enjoy the
Wonderland, wonderland
Shining stars, jingle bells
This time is filled with magic
Wonderland, wonderland
Shining stars, jingle bells
The holy night is coming
“Heart of Glass” by Gisele (Single, 2014)
In 1979, the New York City-born band Blondie released their signature song “Heart of Glass.” And more than three decades later the Brazilian supermodel Gisele covered the song with producer Bob Sinclar, giving it a house beat and a bikini-clad music video for H&M. But this wasn’t the first time the model took on a classic track. A year prior for H&M, Gisele recorded a rendition of The Kinks’ “All Day and All of the Night.” Covering Blondie, she belts,
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind
Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing, but I was so blind
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind
