3 Younger Pop Acts That Have Collaborated with Classic Artists

Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton (“Please Please Please”)

First up on our list is this collaboration between Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton. The country legend joined the pop princess for a remix of her lauded hit “Please Please Please.” After they cleaned it up a bit and added in some country accouterments, this song got new life breathed into it. Though it was certainly an unexpected collaboration, it feels right on time in many ways. Seeing the pair together in the accompanying music video plays like seeing a younger Parton collaborating with her current self. Check out the visual, below.

I know I have good judgment, I know I have good taste
It’s funny and it’s ironic that only I feel that way
I promise ’em that you’re different and everyone makes mistakes
But just don’t

I heard that you’re an actor, so act like a stand-up guy
Whatever devil’s inside you, don’t let him out tonight
I tell them it’s just your culture and everyone rolls their eyes

Dua Lipa and Elton John (“Cold Heart”)

Dua Lipa and Elton John dominated pop radio with “Cold Heart” in 2021. The pair dusted off “Rocket Man” for this club ready hit. Lipa is no stranger to a song that begs the listener to hop on the dance floor. She brought that affinity to this collaboration with a musical giant.

And I think it’s gonna be a long, long time
‘Til touchdown brings me ’round again to find
I’m not the man they think I am at home
And this is what I should have said
Well, I thought it, but I kept it hid

Cold, cold heart
Hardened by you
Some things look better, baby
Just passin’ through

Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder (“Faith”)

Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder hopped in the studio together for this duet in 2016. Both artists have incomparable vocal abilities, yet neither of them seemed to overpower the other. It was a meeting of masters of vocal agility and powerful performance chops. Check out a live performance of “Faith,” below.

See the boy with the Stevie Wonder swag?
Ain’t got a clue all the magic that he has
He’s a go-getter, he’s everybody’s type
I’ma make it my mission, make him feel alright
He’s a twelve on a ten point, rockin’ out to his joint
Just say the word ’cause I could sing all night
