Who says a song can’t be both funny and musically valuable? There have been a ton of songs through the years that are both quite humorous and still have an addictive ear-worm quality to them. Let’s look at four of the funniest songs of all time that are also pretty stellar songs in general!
1. “Stacy’s Mom” by Fountains Of Wayne
Pop punk was exploding in 2003, and Fountains Of Wayne were one of many pop punk outfits that delivered a hit or two in the early aughts. Their biggest song, by far, was “Stacy’s Mom”. The song is about having the hots for your friend’s mother and a lot of people loved it.

2. “A Boy Named Sue” by Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash was known for his stoic demeanor, but he also knew how to have some fun. “A Boy Named Sue” chronicled a boy named Sue (obviously) who constantly battled bullying for his given name, and how he finally confronts his father for the notably feminine label. The song is a riot, and Cash knew how to perform it well.
3. “Big Iron Skillet” by Wanda Jackson
Singer/songwriter and country star Wanda Jackson sang this song about a woman who was sick of her womanizing husband. The woman in question decides to take things into her own hands, namely with a big iron skillet.
4. “Harper Valley P.T.A.” by Jeannie C. Riley
“Harper Valley P.T.A.” is a hilarious track by Jeannie C. Riley that was not only funny enough as a song, but also funny enough to be turned into a whole film. The song is narrated by a girl who isn’t too happy with her small town’s judgmental attitude and school-related politics. It’s a classic, as is the 1978 film.
