“Oh sweet Lorraine, I wish we could do all the good times over again,” begin the lyrics that 96-year old Fred Stobaugh of Illinois wrote following the passing of his wife, whom he married in 1938.
The song, “Oh Sweet Lorraine,” is about Stobaugh’s love for his wife and the seventy-three years they spent together. He mailed his lyrics into Green Shoes Studios’ songwriter contest, where Jacob Colgan took notice of the entry and decided to bring the words to life.
Colgan set Stobaugh’s lyrics to music, leaving him with a song that he says will comfort him forever.
Stobaugh’s story is documented in a video that has received national attention and has been featured in The Huffington Post. “Oh Sweet Lorraine” is currently available on iTunes.
