Although a legend in country music, Willie Nelson also explored a career in Hollywood as he appeared in over 30 films. Never slowing down, the legendary songwriter released his 76th studio album back in November with Last Leaf on the Tree. The album featured songs like “Robbed Blind”, “House Where Nobody Lives”, and “If It Wasn’t Broken.” It even came with a hidden track titled, “The Ghost.” While loving what he produced on and off the stage, Nelson also used the spotlight to help fight the stigma surrounding marijuana. And when it came to Christmas, the icon showcased both his love for the holiday and marijuana.

Posting a picture of himself on Instagram, Willie stood in the kitchen as he showcased a sweater full of Christmas spirit. But instead of the Christmas tree, the country singer’s sweater revealed a marijuana leaf that had a star on top of it. The sweater read, “Smoke weed everyday.”

Gaining nearly 100,000, fans filled the comment section with support for Willie and marijuana. “What does cannabis and Willie Nelson have in common? They both ease my pain!!! Happy holiday folks.” Another comment read, “Absolute legend shining his light upon us all. Your joy and kindness is infectious. You’re authentic and warm hearted with a beautiful voice and soul. We are all so blessed to be living in a time that includes Willie and his talented kids. Merry Christmas.”

Willie Nelson Spends Christmas With Lukas Nelson
While the picture only showed Willie, the country singer wasn’t alone on Christmas. Sharing a post, Willie’s son, Lukas Nelson, thanked fans for the Birthday wishes. But for the singer, nothing was better than spending the holiday with family. “Grateful for all the birthday love today, and to be with family this Christmas.. happy holidays to everyone and sending joy from Maui.”
Although having some fun over Christmas with his sweater, Willie continues to fight for the legalization of marijuana and those who found themselves in trouble with the law over the substance. He told NBC News, “There are so many good people in prison right now just for having something on them. That ain’t right. These folks need to be out of there.”
