Jackson started seeing minor chart success in 1989 when he released “Blue Blooded Woman” as the lead single from Here in the Real World. The song peaked at No. 45 on the country chart. Then, in January 1990, he released the album’s title track and the country music world started paying attention. It peaked at No. 3. He would miss the top spot two more times that year. “Wanted” peaked at No. 3 and “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” landed at No. 2.

“I’d Love You All Over Again” kicked off a string of four consecutive chart-toppers for Jackson. His sophomore album Don’t Rock the Jukebox produced five singles. Four of them, including the title track, topped the country chart. Only “Midnight in Montgomery,” the album’s fourth single missed the top, peaking at No. 3.

Alan Jackson’s Ode to His Wife Took Him to the Top of the Chart

Couples like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Johnny Cash and June Carter, and more recently, Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo get a ton of attention from fans and the press. However, few couples in the country music world have a sweeter love story than Alan Jackson and his wife Denise. The high school sweethearts tied the knot on December 15, 1979, a decade before he released his first single. Last year, they celebrated 45 years of marriage.

Jackson wrote “I’d Love You All Over Again” in 1989 to celebrate their tenth anniversary. He penned the song while alone on a rainy night in a hotel room in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. One can imagine that the up-and-coming singer/songwriter was hundreds of miles away from home, missing the woman he loved, and contemplating the years they’d spent together.

In a genre full of love songs, “I’d Love You All Over Again” stands out as one of the best.
